Emerging as the second generation of the EPOS family of intelligent positioning controllers, the EPOS2 digital positioning controllers manage brush and brushless dc motors with encoders. Based on the CANopen standard, the components cover a performance range from 1W to 700W and can operate in position, speed, and current-control modes, and are configurable for operation with both dc and EC motors, depending on software commands. This variety of operating modes makes them viable for every type of drive system in automation technology and mechatronics. Online commanding is via a CAN Master or a PC through a USB or RS-232 interface. Other features include a USB-to-CAN and RS-232-to-CAN gateway function and a compact design.
