Described as a low-cost, six-channel encoder, the AEDT-9340 optical incremental C-shaped module drives brushless DC motors operating in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 115°C. The module includes a lens-type LED source and a detector IC enclosed in a small plastic package to deliver a switching accuracy of ± 1º mechanical commutation. Also employing a highly collimated light source and a unique photo-detector array, the module is extremely tolerant to mounting misalignment. Other features include a two-channel quadrature rotary output (A, B) with un-gated index pulse for position feedback, three channel integrated commutation output (U, V, W), up to 2,500 cpr, a frequency response up to 200 kHz, TTL compatibility, and operation from a 5V supply. Price is $21.50 each/1,000. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, San Jose, CA. (800) 235-0312.
