For applications requiring intelligence, the R356 microstepping driver and controller features RS-485 communication with RS-232 and USB converter cards optionally available. Commands emanate from the Windows-based HyperTerminal program or from Lin Control, the company’s latest graphical user interface. Commands are intuitive and can be preset to execute upon power up. With the ability to store up to 16 different programs in 4 KB of memory, the controller is employable as a standalone unit with no PC required. The controller delivers up to 3A of peak current and accepts 12 to 40 Vdc of input. Other features include microstepping resolutions ranging from 2x to 256x, programmable ramps and speeds, software selectable hold and move currents, four user configurable digital I/O’s, and two dedicated inputs, one optical sensor for homing and one switch closure to ground.
