The MaxJack integrated magnetic RJ-45 connector is touted as being perfect for any Gigabit application including telecom and datacom equipment, data storage, personal computers, network printers, and peripheral equipment. Sporting a patented construction, the jack promises reduced cost and size and allows for shorter PCB trace lengths from the PHY to the connector for improved signal performance and reduced emissions. It meets IEEE802.3ab requirements for noise immunity and provides a return-loss performance of -3 dB over a frequency range from 1 MHz to 125 MHz. This is said to allow port distances to be extended beyond 100m as per IEEE. The jack is available in single-port, multi-port gang, and stacked and ganged configurations. The single port jack includes an optional LED. Pricing for a single-port jack is 3.18 each/ 1,000 ERNI COMPONENTS INC., Chester, VA. (804) 530-5012.
