Unleashed as an upgrade version of the company's SCA2 disk drive interconnect, a new 40-position connector addresses ever-increasing data rates and regulatory requirements. Improvements in electrical performance make the connector suitable for use with 3.5" drives operating at data-transfer rates from 4.25 Gb/s to 8.5 Gb/s. Insertion loss has reportedly been improved by as much as 4 dB. In addition, the connector is press-fit and RoHS (lead-free) compliant. Mechanical attributes, such as blind mating, contact sequencing, and ESD features, are standard. For further information and pricing, call TYCO ELECTRONICS, Harrisburg, PA. (800) 522-6752.
