Employing a high-performance conductive elastomer contactor, the SG-BGA-7023 and SG-BGA-7025 10-GHz sockets accommodate dense ICs, such as Analog Devices' AD6535 and Siliconware's 80LD, without compromising performance. Contact resistance is normally 10 m?, and the sockets guide the device into the exact position for connection of each ball. An aluminum heatsink screw provides compressive force. The sockets support packages with16 x 16 arrays with up to 256 balls to 9 x 9 arrays with up to 81 balls. They mechanically mount to the target PCB and measure 7.5 mm high and 2.5 mm per side larger than the IC packages they house. The SG-BGA-7023 handles any 7 mm BGA with a 0.5 mm or 0.65 mm pitch, while the SG-BGA-7025 sockets 9 mm devices. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Eagan, MN. (800) 404-0204.
