Enlarging the company's line of storage-interface connectors, the Slimline connector enables the connection of a slimline form factor drive to the Serial ATA interface. The connector suits applications such as removable optical disk-drive interfaces, desktop and notebook PCs, gaming equipment, and internal/external optical disk drives. It fits into current Parallel ATA connector slimline designs with almost no changes to the slimline drive case, media tray, or internal mechanics. The connector preserves the design of the signal portion of the SATA connector and accommodates available SATA signal cables. Other features include a durability of 500 cycles, a mating force of 45N maximum, and an un-mating force of 10N minimum. The connector is available in a 13-position version and is fully compliant with the latest SATA-I/O 2.6 specification. FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
