Replacing SCSI-drive connections in enterprise storage applications, the company's 29-position, vertical backplane receptacle connectors enable the implementation of serial attached SCSI (SAS) hard-disk drive (HDD) interfaces. Options are available for through-hole solder, press fit, surface-mount (SMT), or hybrid terminations. The connectors rely on staggered contact lengths to provide sequential mating and support for hot plugging and blind mating. Molded guide posts provide angled lead-in to compensate for connector misalignment, allowing the device plug and backplane receptacle to self align during the mating process. Each backplane connector also features stamped retention clips that provide additional mechanical strength. Typical prices range from $1 to $2 each/1,000. FCI, Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
