The company's PCI Express (PCIe) card-edge connector range expands with its first vertical connectors designed for surface-mount (SMT) termination. Available connector sizes include 36, 64, 98, or 164 contacts to support x1, x4, x8 or x16 PCIe lanes. The SMT connector versions feature 0.1-mm lead coplanarity and SMT retention clips at both connector ends for added mechanical strength after soldering. Non-protrusive orientation posts are also available. The connectors accept a 1.58-mm thick add-in card, and a polarization key on the connector and corresponding notch on the add-in card prevent improper insertion. Typical pricing ranges from $0.02 to $0.04 per contact each/2,000. FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
