Applications where safety is critical can take advantage of a new group of electrical retractile extension cords. Designed with a glow-in-the-dark material, they can glow up to eight hours after one hour of exposure to light. Also, they extend only as far as needed to eliminate loose wires on the ground, automatically retracting with no need to roll them up. Their plugs light to alert users when the wire is live, and they have NEMA 515, twist-lock, and molded plugs as well as strain releases. These cords come in 14- and 16-gauge three-conductor versions with a 1:5 extension ratio. The cords are UL/CSA approved.
