The advantages of heat-shrinkable polyolefin tubing (MIL-1-23053/5) are coupled with the convenience of wrap-around products in PRT protective coverings for cables. Available for use on round cables ranging from 1/8" to 2" O.D., the new wrap-around heat-shrinkable tubing is said to offer excellent abrasion and chemical resistance and electrical characteristics. PRT provides a way to repair damaged cables or to make existing cables more resistant to environmental conditions. The tubing is installed by wrapping it around the cable and then removing the adhesive release liner to affix PRT to the cable. The material can be recovered with a heat gun.
