Horizontally Polarized Omni-Directional Antennas Eye GHz WLANs

Horizontally polarized omni-directional antennas have been developed for WLAN basestations operating in the 2,400 to 2,485 MHz ISM frequency range. The antennas are said to offer greater rejection of vertically polarized interference signals, a problem reportedly common in most WLAN systems. The antennas are available in two models suitable for transmit and receive functions for 2.4 GHz WLANs, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless systems, as well as point-to-multipoint and wireless broadband systems. Model PAWODH24-9 features 9 dBi gain, 20° of vertical beam width, and -29 dB cross polarization rejection; it measures 27" x 4" x 1" and weighs 6 lb. Model PAWODH24-13 features 13 dBi gain, 7° of vertical beam width, and -27 dB cross polarization rejection; the 49" x 4" x 1" unit weighs 9 lb. The 50? antennas have a VSWR of better than 1.5:1, come with integrated industry standard N female connectors, and operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 70°C.
