The Tempus HS 4000 2-mm backplane connector promises increased bandwidth up to 10 Gb/s and reduced crosstalk for high-speed systems, such as Serial-ATAII. It features a plated, 0.5-mm through-hole and specifies less than 5% crosstalk above 5 Gb/s and a differential insertion loss of less than 1dB at 5 Gb/s. For better signal isolation and to reduce reflected signals, the connector employs a differentially-tuned leadframe with wider grounds and shorter signal tuning forks to reduce the electrical length of the overall mating interface. Depending on the configuration and plating, prices range from $0.16 to $0.20 per mated line with lead-times from six to eight weeks.
