Enabling implementation of the MicroTCA standard currently under development within PICMG, the company’s surface-mount, card-edge backplane connectors provide a dual-row, 170-position card-edge interface on a 0.75-mm pitch. This ensures that any standard AdvancedMC card can be plugged directly to a MicroTCA backplane. The surface-mount connectors support differential signaling at data rates up to 12.5 Gb/s per lane with low loss and minimal cross talk. Additionally, the use of surface-mount termination eliminates the need for numerous drilled through holes for connector leads, and metal retention clips at connector ends offer additional mechanical strength after soldering. The MicroTCA connectors are both lead-free and RoHS-compliant. FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
