Claiming a breakthrough in fine-pitch socket technology for validating BGA and LGA devices, the company's 0.5-mm pitch BGA socket adapter system employs both male and female pins in an interstitial pattern. This approach ensures the reliability of screw-machined terminals with multi-finger contacts in a SMT socket. With no external hold-downs required, the socket measures just 2-mm larger than the guest device. It accommodates standard eutectic tin/lead solder balls or the latest lead-free tin/silver/copper solder-ball terminals for RoHS-compliant applications. To further protect the pin field, unique alignment pins are used that also ease hand placement of the device. Optional standoffs are also available. ADVANCED INTERCONNECTIONS CORP., West Warwick, RI.
