Embarking as a high-performance QFN socket for 0.5-mm pitch, 256-pin BGA ICs, the SG-BGA-7121 and SG-BGA-7122 sockets accommodate an 8 mm x 8 mm package size and operate at bandwidths up to 10 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The sockets dissipate up to several Watts without extra heat sinking and can handle up to 100W with a custom heat sink. Contact resistance is typically 20 milliOhms per pin and the socket connects all pins with a 10-GHz bandwidth on all connections. Other features include a temperature range from -40?C to +100?C, pin self inductance of 0.11 nH, mutual inductance of 0.028 nH, capacitance to ground of 0.028 pF, and a current capacity of 5A per pin. Pricing for the SG-BGA-7121 or SG-BGA-7122 is $363 each. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Burnsville, MN. (800) 404-0204.
