The SG-MLF-7028 socket accommodates 64-pin, 0.5-mm pitch QFN packages on any PCB, reportedly without significant performance. It requires no soldering and no mounting hardware or screws and operates at bandwidths up to 10 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The socket dissipates up to several Watts without extra heat sinking and can handle up to 100W with a custom heat sink. Contact resistance is typically 20 milliOhms per pin and the socket connects all pins with a 10-GHz bandwidth on all connections. Additionally, it mounts on any existing PCB using the company’s exclusive placement/epoxy system. Single-unit pricing for the SG-MLF-7028 is $401. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Burnsville, MN.
