The SG-BGA-6296 socket handles 1-mm pitch BGA 1924-pin ICs, is designed for a 45 mm x 45 mm package size, and operates at bandwidths up to 8 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. It dissipates up to several Watts without extra heat sinking and can handle up to 100W with a custom heat sink. Contact resistance is typically 20 m? per pin and the socket connects all pins with 8-GHz bandwidth on all connections. Other specs include an operating temperature range from -35 °C to +100 °C, a pin self inductance of 0.11 nH, mutual inductance of 0.028 nH, capacitance to ground of 0.028 pF, and a current capacity of 2A per pin. Single-unit pricing for the SG-BGA-6296 is $1,038. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Burnsville, MN. (800) 404-0204.
