Resistor Achieves Resistances Down to 250 MicroΩ

Jan. 7, 2014
Stackpole's CSS precision current sense resistor series is ideal for high current applications because it offers very low resistance values.

The CSS series of precision current sense resistors from Stackpole are ideal for high current applications because they offer very low resistance values.  The 4 watt rated CSS2725 is available in resistance values down to 0.25 mΩ.  This allows for its use in sensing currents above 50 amps with much less thermal energy dissipated.

The CSS is ideal for laptops, portable test equipment, bar code scanners, medical monitoring and diagnostic equipment, communications equipment such as WAN / LAN / and RF networking, energy monitoring, metering equipment, electric power tools, sensors and sensing / detection equipment, DC-to-DC converters, voltage regulators, motor controls, motion controls, and instrumentation.

The CSS / CSSH is available in 1206, 2010, 2512, 2725, 2728, and 4527 size packages.  The TCR's range from 15 ppm to 50 ppm with tolerances down to 0.5%.  Pricing varies with size, resistance value, and tolerance and ranges from $0.188 each to $1.50 each in full reel quantities.  Contact Stackpole volume pricing.  Many popular sizes and resistance values are in stock including the CSS2725 in a 250 micro-Ω resistance value.
