AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has introduced the highest Q 01005 MLCC available on today's market for ultra-high frequency (UHF) band applications (300MHz - 3GHz).

AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has introduced the highest Q 01005 MLCC available on today's market for ultra-high frequency (UHF) band applications (300MHz - 3GHz). The first part number of the new CU Series ultralow ESR C0G (NP0) MLCCs, the CU10 01005 MLCC, exhibits typical Q values of 290 at 1GHz for a 4pF capacitance, which makes it ideal for reducing power consumption and improving battery efficiency in the high frequency power amplifier circuits within multifunctional and multiband RF communication devices, including: smartphones, tablets, handheld scanners, camera sensor modules, and telecommunications equipment.

The new CU Series ultralow ESR MLCCs feature low-resistance internal copper electrodes and interior structures that have been carefully optimized to reduce resistance. The series also exhibits highly accurate and evenly distributed capacitances spanning 0.5pF to 22pF, which, combined with the series outstanding ESR, effectively mitigates impedance mismatching between circuits and subsequently preserves both power and battery life.

The 01005 CU10 ultralow ESR MLCCs are available in 16V ratings and with capacitance values spanning 0.5pF to 22pF. Intended for use in temperatures spanning -55°C to +125°C, CU Series MLCCs are lead-free compatible and RoHS compliant, and are supplied with plated Ni/Sn terminations on both 4mm and 8mm 7" reels. Lead time for the CU10 is 12 weeks, and the second part number of the series, the CU01 0201 MLCC, is expected to be introduced to the market later this year.
