IGBT Snubber Caps Offer Low Inductance, High AC Ratings

May 1, 2000
The Lo-Henry 88 Series of IGBT, direct-mountable, snubber-type capacitors features a dual-element internal construction, which, it is claimed, results in up to 70% lower inductance and at least twice the ac voltage rating versus standard snubber

The Lo-Henry 88 Series of IGBT, direct-mountable, snubber-type capacitors features a dual-element internal construction, which, it is claimed, results in up to 70% lower inductance and at least twice the ac voltage rating versus standard snubber capacitors. They can be specified in two styles: with a polypropylene/foil dielectric for high DVDT; and with a metallized polypropylene dielectric offering self-healing properties. Voltage ratings are from 800 vdc to 3 kvdc and 460 to 920 vac. Operating temperature is from -55°C to +105°C. Other features include switching protection for voltage overshoots as low as 15 nH and ripple current is to 46.2A. Pricing is $3.50 to $6, depending on quantity.
