Said to be an industry first, the companyÕs line of tantalum chip capacitors incorporate polymer multianodes. Touting a very low equivalent series resistance (ESR), the components can smooth ripple currents in switch-mode power supplies up to 4.5A. The multianode design deploys three polymer-coated tantalum anodes connected in parallel, reducing ESR to about 10 m½. Samples rated at 680 µF at 4V are available, while a 470 µF at 6.3V capacitor is in the works. The company plans to offer values up to 1,000 µF at 4Vin the near future and, eventually, up to 1,500 µF and higher. For further information and prices, contact EPCOS INC., Iselin, NJ.
