Particularly suitable for compact dc/dc converters because of their SMT design, the EE5 and EE4.2 series current-sense transformers provide a complete solution with integrated primary windings. The EE5 series, based on an EE5 core, targets existing designs and the EE4.2 is a miniature version with a more compact E4.2 core. Unlike the EE5 components that integrate the primary on an external bracket, the EE4.2 deploys the primary in the coil former. Specs for the EE4.2 transformers include a primary-winding dc resistance of 2.5 milliOhms at a current of 7A and the test voltage is 360 Vac. For the EE5 series, the dc resistance of the primary is 0.8 milliOhms at a current of 20A and the test voltage is 500 Vac. Pricing for either series is $0.75 each/10,000. EPCOS INC., Iselin, NJ.
