A new epoxy-encapsulated SMT chip inductor measures just 0.5 mm x 0.25 mm x 0.25 mm. The GLTZ series inductor is made by laser-cutting a helix in copper deposited on an alumina core. Terminals are nickel plated with a solder coat. Inductance ranges from 1.0 nH to 22 nH in 17 models. Standard tolerance on inductance is ±5%, or ±0.3 nH for inductances less than 6.8 nH. The GLTZ series has high Q at microwave frequencies, and self-resonant frequencies up to 20 GHz. The chip nductor is priced at $0.092 each/15,000. SPRAGUE-GOODMAN ELECTRONICS INC., Westbury, NY.
