The Filternator is a clean attenuator that uses an integrated filter to eliminate high-frequency signals. Users can specify a cut-off frequency from 5.5 to 8.5 GHz. Standard attenuation values are 1, 3, 6, and 10 dB with a tolerance of ±1 dB. VSWR for all four values is less than 1.5:1. The devices measure 0.150 by 0.120 by 0.015 in. and are available with wire bondable or solderable terminations. The Filternator chip design offers an advantage over fixed-chip attenuators by filtering the high-frequency harmonics, thus providing a cleaner signal. To make the concept transparent to existing chip attenuator users, the Filternator’s geometry, including the dimensions of the termination pads, are identical to the company’s standard 1512 attenuator. Customer-specific requirements can also be accommodated. Prices start at under $1.90 in production quantities. Delivery is from stock to eight weeks. STATE OF THE ART INC., State College, PA.
