Available off-the-shelf, the Avionicap capacitor is an ECR metalized polycarbonate film capacitor with ±1% tolerance that measures just 0.195" x 0.195" x 0.095" deep. Capacitance values are from 0.0010 to 1 µF for these film caps, which are as small as one-third the size of equivalent standard film capacitors. The self-healing devices exhibit none of the inherent disadvantages of ceramic capacitors of the same size (no piezoelectric effect and no frequency or voltage sensitivity).Operating temperature range is -55°C to 125°C without de-rating. Standard voltage ratings are from 30V to 250V.
