The TPM Series tantalum capacitors now include D and low profile Y case size multi-anode mirror components that exhibit low ESL and lower ESRs. They employ a symmetrical design that reduces ESL to 1 nH, reportedly half that of standard D case sized components. This enables a higher resonant frequency up to 500 kHz (mirror D case) and more efficient filtering in dc/dc power switching converters. The symmetrical design also reduces capacitor height from 4.3 mm (E case) down to 3.1 mm (D case) with further reductions down to 2.0 mm maximum (Y case). Mirror TPM capacitors in a D case size offer a capacitance range of 220 mF to 1,000 mF, voltage rating from 2.5V to 10V, and ESR values from 25 to 35 milliOhms. Prices start at $2 each/1,000.
