SMT Capacitors Obtain Very Low ESRs

Nov. 1, 1999
Touted as an alternate to low-ESR tantalum or low-impedance aluminum electrolytic-style chips, the NTP Series of ultra-low-ESR, high-ripple-current, surface-mount capacitors is available in values from 10 vdc to 6.3 vdc and utilizes a unique polymer

Touted as an alternate to low-ESR tantalum or low-impedance aluminum electrolytic-style chips, the NTP Series of ultra-low-ESR, high-ripple-current, surface-mount capacitors is available in values from 10 vdc to 6.3 vdc and utilizes a unique polymer cathode, in place of manganese dioxide, to obtain ESRs as low as 0.04 ohms and ripple current ratings to 880 mARMS. Designed for use in lower-voltage, high-current applications, the devices are available in EIA standard A, B, C and D case sizes and are suitable for reflow soldering. Lead times is 12 to 16 weeks and samples are available.
