The AD517x family of digital potentiometers employs set-and-forget technology that permanently locks (one-time programmable) their resistance to a particular value upon user command. The technology is said to deliver non-volatile memory functions for half the price of flash and other memory devices. Operating at temperatures from -40°C to 125°C with a 35 ppm/°C temperature coefficient, the components are available in end-to-end resistance values of 2.5, 5, 10, 50 and 100 kilohms. Operation is from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply with a maximum current consumption of 5 µA. The family includes the 64-position AD5171 and the 256-position AD5170 with a second-chance option - the option provides a parallel set of fusable links that allow users two chances to set the final resistance. Both devices include two one-time-programmable potentiometers. Prices for AD5170 in a micro SOP-10 package and AD5171 in a SOT23-8, are $0.99 and $0.71 each/1,000, respectively.
