The E-series multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) employ X7R material and promise to be significantly more resistant to ESD pulses than standard type capacitors. The components also offer EMI protection up to 300 MHz. According to the company, the optimal pairing of material and design enables low capacitance values of down to 1 nF, making them viable for use in ESD-resistant low-pass filters. Available in 0603 and 0805 case sizes, capacitances range from 1 nF to 10 nF and operating voltages between 50V and 100V. Typical ESD levels are 18 kV (0603 10 nF), 9 kV (0805 1 nF), and 25 kV (0805 10 nF) to AEC-Q200. Depending on type and quantity, prices range from $0.02 to $0.05 each. EPCOS INC., Iselin, NJ.
