Described as exceptionally rugged, the company’s latest series multiple-pulse varistors. suit applications experiencing repetitive surges such as switch-mode power supplies, drives, or general over-voltage protection modules. The varistors are available with diameters of 10 mm, 14 mm, and 20 mm and they can withstand surge currents of 1.5 kA to 5 kA with 15 pulses of 8/20 µs at intervals of 60s. Voltage ratings span from from 275 to 460 Vac. The company is currently developing types that will extend the protection for line voltages from 130 to 680 Vac. Pricing varies depending on disk size and volume. EPCOS INC., Iselin, NJ. (800) 888-7728.
