Aluminum Capacitors Keep Impedance Down

Oct. 5, 2010
The 146 CTI are hailed as the industry's first surface-mount aluminum capacitors to combine ultra-low impedances down to 0.035O with high ripple currents to 1.75A while meeting the IPC/JEDEC J-STD-020 soldering standard.

The 146 CTI are hailed as the industry's first surface-mount aluminum capacitors to combine ultra-low impedances down to 0.035Ω with high ripple currents to 1.75A while meeting the IPC/JEDEC J-STD-020 soldering standard. They are available in eight case sizes ranging from 10 mm x 10 mm x 10 mm to 18 mm x 18 mm x 21 mm. Operating in temperatures up to + 125°C, impedance values range from 0.035Ω to 0.430Ω at 100 kHz and +20 °C. Ripple currents span 400 mA to 1,750 mA at 100 kHz and + 125°C and useful life is 6,000 hours at +125°C. Additionally, the RoHS-compliant capacitors are charge- and discharge-proof, so there is no peak current limitation. For vibration-proof performance, the devices are available in four-pin and six-pin versions. As an example, pricing for a 146 CTI 100-µF, 50V cap is $0.68 each.
