RISC-V FPGA Kit Aids AI Vision Development
Microchip’s PolarFire system-on-a-chip (SoC) incorporates five, 64-bit RISC-V cores with the company’s high-performance FPGA and SERDES. The PolarFire SoC Smart Embedded Vision Platform is built around this FPGA and adds a plethora of connections and peripherals to make developing vision applications using artificial intelligence (AI) easier.
The kit includes a Sony 4K dual-camera sensor and interfaces include x4 PCI Express Gen 2, HDMI 2.0, MIPI DSI, MIPI CSI-2, CoaXjPress 2.0, and VITA 57.1 HPC FMC. Communication interfaces include Ethernet, USB 3.1, USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 5.0.
The kit is supported by Microsoft’s FPGA tools as well as the VectorBlox Accelerator Software Development Kit, including the CoreVectorBlox IP neural-network accelerator. Using Microchip’s overlay approach, a single instantiation of the accelerator can run different AI models networks.
