The result of collaboration between SiGe Semiconductor and Fujitsu Microelectronics America, an emerging reference design provides a production-ready blueprint for the development of WiMAX-capable broadband access systems. It consists of Fujitsu's MB87M3400 WiMAX-compliant baseband system-on-chip, SiGe's SE7351L/SE7051L RF transceiver chipset, and all of the necessary software and hardware to design residential and enterprise customer premise equipment. The SoC includes MAC and PHY layer functions, and comprehensive encryption/decryption capabilities, automatic frequency control, and support for multiple channel bandwidths. It also supports half- and full-duplex FDD or TDD applications in the 2 to 11 GHz bands. The SoC interfaces directly to the transceiver chipset, providing a complete RF chain.
