Royalty-free and packed with GUI-based tools and source code, the mTouch tool kit promises to be an easy method for adding touch-sensing interfaces to applications employing PIC microcontrollers. Full access to source code allows designers to customize and integrate algorithms into their designs. The kit provides a user manual with quick-start guide plus application notes covering hardware and software design practices with example implementations. These include an introduction, layout and physical guidelines, software, and multi-button systems. Other specialties include graphical user interface software tools for analysis of designs using the PICkit Serial analyzer development tool, source code for a variety of sensing routines, MPLAB integrated development environment and user manual, and a 30-day license for HI-TECH’s PICC-Lite C compiler. The kit is available now via download from the company's website. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (888) 628-6247.
