2008 International CES, Las Vegas - Going into production during the first half of this year, the company's multi-level cell (MLC), flash-based solid-state drive (SSD) stores up to 128 GB of data. The drive will be available in 1.8" and 2.5" versions for notebook and desktop PCs, as well as other mobile applications. It delivers a write speed of 70 MB/s, reportedly the industry’s highest for MLC-based SSDs. Read rate is specified as 100MB/s. Featuring a 3Gb/s SATA II interface, the SSD employs native command queuing and spread-spectrum clocking to boost performance levels. Other features include device/host-initiated power management to keep power consumption at a level of 0.5W in active mode. SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO. LTD., San Jose, CA. (800) 726-7864.
