To aid educators in teaching analog and digital communication fundamentals, National Instruments and Emona Instruments team up to offer an add-on telecommunications module, the Digital Analog Telecommunications EXperimenter (DATEx), for the NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS). Using the combo, users can visualize telecommunications concepts in a hands-on learning environment. DATEx also operates with LabVIEW graphical development environment to provide more control in building projects via a graphical system design and block diagram approach. The pairing of the DATEx module with ELVIS offers more than 30 unique analog and digital communication experiments, allowing for custom lesson plans covering specific concepts such as AM, FM, time-division multiplexing, phase-locked loops, amplitude-shift keying, spread spectrum, and line coding.
