Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA. - The NS9215 and NS9210 embark as the industry's first microprocessors to include flexible interface modules (FIMS) that provide different hardware interfaces based on the needs of the design. Reportedly, FIMs reduce product design complexity and costs by reducing the number of necessary components. Based on an ARM926EJ-S core capable of operating at speeds up to 150 MHz, the processors also provide security through a 256-bit AES accelerator. The NS9215 features 4 kB of I/D cache, 10/100 Ethernet MAC, four UARTs, SPI, I2C, four PWMs or 10 timers, a 12-bit ADC, quadrature decoder, RTC with battery backup, up to 108 GPIOs, and access to two FIMs. The NS9215 is available in a 265-pin BGA package and the NS9210 is available in a 177-pin BGA version that offers a smaller footprint with access to a subset of the NS9215 interfaces. Set for production in June, prices for the NS9215 and NS9210 are $11.95 and $10.95 each/10,000, respectively.
