VA Linux Systems, the owner of SourceForge.net, has commercially released the SourceForge 3.0 Enterprise Edition. It includes advanced document management, Oracle database integration, and expanded monitoring and reporting features. The product is no longer an open-source project.

Users interested in setting up their own site may want to turn to Savannah, whose open-source project is available to all. The Savannah site also hosts new open-source projects. It has significantly fewer projects than SourceForge, but the number is growing.For details, go to savannah.gnu.org and www.valinux.com.

I earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
