Compatibility for the company's reusable, pre-designed and verified V186 software core has been extended to include support for the AM186EM 80186 microprocessor from Advanced Micro Devices. In addition, pre- and post-silicon verification and test tools are on the upswing: First Silicon Solutions, Portland, OR, offers an on-chip debugger that provides an in-circuit emulation feature set. The software core is available in both VHDL and Verilog source code and is compatible with the Synopsys synthesis environment. It allows an Intel and AMD 80186-compatible microprocessor to be implemented within any ASIC or FPGA technology for SOC integration. The core is available now.
