Claimed to be the world's first industrial I/O system to offer a built-in Web server, SNAP Ethernet I/O allows any browser to connect directly to its analog and digital I/O channels in real-time- and without the need for special software to read or write data. The system's resident Web pages are designed to provide, among other things, I/O configuration, analog I/O values, digital I/O status, streaming data configuration, and diagnostics and help screens, all at the I/O level. The rack- or DIN rail-mountable SNAP Ethernet I/O system consists of analog and digital I/O modules together with a SNAP-B3000-ENET "brain" module that now also contains the Web browser. The brain can serve its Web pages while simultaneously operating in a data acquisition and control mode without degrading performance. Furthermore, the brain can stream data at user-defined intervals from the Web server to client applications. Eventually, users are expected even to be able to download their own Web pages into the brain. SNAP Ethernet I/O employs pure TCP/IP communications technology, allowing the Web server to work across the Internet, as well as any local Ethernet network (doubting Thomases can check this out at www.internetio.com).
