Mountlake Terrace, WA-An integrated solution aimed at solving compatibility issues between CAD and CAM environments is being developed by GraphiCode, which is partnering with Electronic CAD/CAM Exchange (ECCE), a DARPA-funded program. The new standard will reuse EDIF technology. GraphiCode is facilitating the proper preparation of EDIF data by integrating an EDIT reader and writer into its GC-CAM software. The ECCE standards database for converting CAD to CAM was driven by CAD companies who wanted to use this new output. The requirement was for a seamless CAD/CAM data transfer which is a robust, formal specification. It is a joint EIA/IPC standard. The program has been successfully written and tested in firm's products.
