Embedded: Application Kit Demos Linux-Based Data Acquisition And Control System

Housed in a 14- by 12-in. rugged NEMA 4X fiberglass enclosure, the IPM-Demo-1 prewired system is based on the VersaTRAK IPm RTU and ST-MIX16880 combination I/O module. The VersaTRAK IPm RTU is a Linux-based industrial PowerPC system with Ethernet, four serial ports, and 32 Mbytes of memory. It comes with an application development kit, ISaGRAF IEC 61131-3, and open-source software. The unit costs $3350, while software costs $1800. A 60-day evaluation costs $500.

I earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
