Three reference designs have been introduced for multi-phase, high-current dc/dc converters using the iP2001, a highly integrated device for building high efficiency, 5V to 12V input, 1V to 2V output synchronous buck converters. The IRDCiP2001-C reference design, for example, gives four-phase converters having up to 88.5% efficiency at 80A full load, 1.6 VOUT and 500 kHz. This is said to represent an efficiency improvement up to 10% over discrete approaches. The reference designs come in two-, three- and four-phase models costing $335, $365 and $395, respectively.
