The MTC21208 10-Gbit/s optical transceiver is designed for use in 80-km applications. This high-end transponder complies with the 300-pin Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) specifications.

Available in a small footprint (101.5 by 88.8 by 13.2 mm), the MTC21208 supports data rates of 9.9 (Sonet), 10.3 (10-Gigabit Ethernet), and 10.7 (G.709 FEC) Gbits/s for 40- and 80-km applications. It's available with either PIN or APD photodiodes on the receive ends.

The MTC21208 complies with current ITU-T G.691, Bellcore GR-253-CORE, ITU-T G.825, and OIF99.102.5 standards. It exceeds ITU-T G.825 jitter requirements. This device also utilizes a low-power multiplexer with an integrated clock multiplier unit as well as a demultiplexer with integrated clock- and data-recovery chip set.

Available now, samples of the MTC21208 transceiver cost $20,000.
