The first products emanating from the SMART family of embedded computers include the SMARTpac 500 data-acquisition server and SMARTpac 1200 compute server. A 2U slide-mountable chassis with five computer or I/O blades and three InfiniBand connections, the SMARTpac 500 targets front-end data acquisition. The SMARTpac 1200 3U compute server, which includes 12 compute blades and up to six InfiniBand connections, targets computationally intensive signal processing and image analysis. The two units are designed as complementary systems. While the SMARTpac 500 costs $29,500, pricing for the SMARTpac 1200 depends on configuration requirements.
