Embedded: RAID Controller Squeezes Into 3.5-in. Space

A RAID 1 mirror system known as the I35MB pairs smaller hard disks with a RAID controller. The drives support S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology). Capacities range from 20 to 80 Gbytes. The system, which interfaces to a standard integrated development environment (IDE) controller, has a transfer rate of 25 Mbytes/s. The 80-Gbyte I35MB IDE Raidpak costs $1325.

I earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
