Atmel's I2C CryptoMemory chips secure up to 32 kbytes of data in EEPROM partitioned into 16 regions using four sets of 64-bit secret seeds and four sets of 64-bit session keys. The chips support stream encryption, password security, and dynamic mutual authentication. Contactless RF versions are also available.

Prices for the CryptoMemory start at $0.15 for an eight-lead small-outline IC (SOIC) or plastic dual-inline package (PDIP). The AT88SC-DKI CryptoMemory development kit costs $49. FOR MORE INFORMATION

I earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
