The Airborne Embedded 802.11b/g radio module from Quatech Inc. is the company’s first product to include an SDIO/SPI host interface. The module, being introduced this week at ESC Silicon Valley in San Jose, also has a Bluetooth interface and features a small form factor. Together with advanced security capability, these features make the module well-suited for integrating the latest Wi-Fi technology into designs for power-sensitive and handheld devices used in industrial, medical, surveillance, telematics, and mobile enterprise applications.

The new Airborne radio supports the latest media streaming, roaming, power-management, and security standards. The product’s powerful encryption feature supports the latest 802.11i security standards and implements AES, WEP, WPA, and WPA2 along with a broad range of EAP supplicants. Quatech’s Airborne Embedded Radio Evaluation and Development Kits include reference drivers for WindowsXP, Vista, WinCE, Windows Mobile, and Linux. The evaluation kits and samples of the Airborne Embedded Radio Module are available now.
