The IEEE 1284 Driver Toolkit, Version 3.0, is a software library for application developers that allows them to write programs utilizing the IEEE 1284 bi-directional standard to control peripherals through the parallel port of the host PC. Among the enhancements made to the toolkit it its ability to work in Fast Centronics Mode. This allows the software library to operate four times faster than the previous version-data is transferred at rates of over 1 Mbyte/s. The library also offers new installation features that allow developers to quickly set-up and begin working with the toolkit. The new version incorporates a sample application, making it easier for developers to write their own application.. The purpose of the driver is to transmit and receive data and address information to and from an IEEE 1284-compatible parallel port.
